Timothy Smith & Jonathan Taylor Architects
Timothy Smith & Jonathan Taylor Architects was founded in 2010. We are experts in the design of contemporary spaces for modern living in historic settings. We believe in beautiful, well-made buildings and spaces : a creative modern architecture with traditional virtues. Balance, proportion, character, intrigue and wit are central to our work.
Recent projects include estate buildings for the National Trust, a housing development in East Anglia, extensions to Victorian and listed Georgian houses in London and several refurbishment and extension projects.
We were featured in the Architecture Foundation’s publication New Architects 3, the “definitive survey of the best practices formed in the last 10 years”. Work by the practice has been featured in the FT Home, Apollo magazine, exhibited in the UK and Europe and was included in the 2019 Lisbon Architecture Triennale.
Both partners teach a postgraduate design studio at Kingston School of Art, and have been invited to lecture and critique work at schools of architecture in the UK, Europe and the USA, including ETH Zurich, AHO Oslo, the University of Miami and Yale.
